About Erin

Erin Kellam is currently calling Chattanooga, TN her home base. She is in the process of becoming an IATSE member of Local 140 based in Chattanooga, TN. A graduate of The University of Virginia’s College at Wise with a BFA in Theatre where she focused in lighting design. After seeing her first Broadway show, Wicked National Tour,  she was filled with wonder and excitement and knew then she wanted to be a part of that world. Her life goal is to touch the lives of every person who gets the opportunity to see a show she has designed or had the honor of working on.

Erin’s favorite hobby is reading and collecting books. Her favorite author is Jane Austen! It has always been a calming past time to just sit and read chapter after chapter.

Some of her favorite works that she has been involved in would be A Night with Janis Joplin (Ivoryton Playhouse), Peter and the Starcatcher (Barter Theatre), and Salvage (Peninsula Players Theatre). Favorite shows that she has designed would be The Neverending Story, A Wrinkle in Time, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, all with the Barter Players. In college, she had the opportunity to design shows like Medea, The Phantom of the Opera, and Angels In America Part 1.

Erin enjoys working on wiring and LED tape projects. She finds working on practicals for specific elements in the show and finishing them to be some of the most rewarding work. Seeing that final product light up at the perfect time in a show is just the best feeling.

She fell in love with Cirque Du Solei when she saw the movie Cirque Du Solei: Worlds Away and was entranced by how beautiful all the different and various elements worked together. She has now been able to see Varekai and Corteo while they were on tour. Erin would consider being on a Cirque Du Solei Tour to be the pinnacle of her career.
